Top 4?

I wonder why Steve did a Top 4 instead of the usual Top 5 that most people do. I like the trend setting this guy thinks of ( I honestly think he only played around 4 games last year). So with out further ado, here are my Top 4 of 2010.

4. Super Street Fighter 4/BlazBlue: Continuum Shift

Now I have sided with BlazBlue in the past but you can't argue with the upgrade that Super Street Fighter 4 is when compared to BlazBlue: Continuum Shift. SSF4 added 10 characters, better balancing (goodbye Sagat), more modes, character themes, and probably the best online options. Blazblue still has a spot in heart with its crazy characters and insane combos, but as a better value I would have to go with SSF4. However, as technically sound as Street Fighter is, I think it is fun to go wild with Blazblue. In my opinion I believe that Street Fighter take more skill and there is so much technically junk with that game and balance and match up problems as in.. there is 35 characters so match ups are an issue. Blazblue seems intense at first but it isn't too tough to have fun and be decent at the game. I like how the designers pretty much said they created characters that would be fun to play as, screw the balance, which they would later fix with the upcoming release of BBCS2. Both games are awesome and both cost 40 bones, so have a blast.

3. Halo Reach
I will agree with most of my friends that Halo 3 had a bigger impact on us but Halo Reach is the best game in the series. It has all the things we have come to know and love (or hate) about Halo but is very fine tuned and polished. Let's face it, Halo 3 was ugly and looks like it could have been done on the original Xbox. Halo Reach looks like a next generation game with good details and better character models. It doesn't look like Killzone 3 or something in terms of graphics but it still looks good. Now for me, the meat of the game is the multi-player. There is co-op campaign, slayer, firefight, and many other modes. Now I won't talk about the campaign because it is good but I had to play it solo because of a stupid hard drive issue that no one warns you about. Slayer and all modes like that are so much fun. Add in the new load outs and abilities, with the ability to customize game types to a insane degree and you have a game mode that almost seems only as expansive as your own creativity. But none of this matters much..because everyone I know is playing Call of Duty: Black Ops, which is getting an entire post for itself in the future.

2. Bayonetta
I am pretty sure this game was released in 2009 but I don't care I played it last year, and it filled the empty void that Devil May Cry 4 left. Basically this is what DMC4 should have been. A game that doesn't take itself too seriously, smooth action, so many combos, style and variety. This is also a meaty game. An action game that take 15 - 20 hours to beat is kind of long but at least it stays fresh most of the time.

P.S. Bayonetta kinda looks like a hot Sarah Palin, ZING

1. Red Dead Redemption
Won't go too much into this because it mostly how Steve describes it. On a personal level, I LOVE westerns and this is the ultimate love letter for someone who loves westerns. You can kidnap a woman, tie her up, and throw her on a train track. You can just live the life of a bounty hunter, or cause havoc in towns or be a good law man and punish those who break the law. And for ten dollars more, you can play one of the best zombie expansion/game ever. Undead Nightmare is so good and a great way to expand the life of the game.
